PURPOSE:To protect an laser oscillator against damage due to the erroneous operation of a CPU by a method wherein a laser output is stopped depending on the judgement that the operation is out of order when a check signal is absent for a prescribed period after a laser output command signal is inputted. CONSTITUTION:A laser output command signal generating means 11, which outputs a check signal B following after a laser output command signal A, and a laser output controlling circuit 12, which the laser output command signal A and the check signal B are inputted to and stops the output of the laser output command signal A depending on the judgement that the operation is out of order when the check signal is absent for a prescribed period after the laser output command signal A is inputted, are added to a NC device 1 of an NC laser device provided with a laser oscillation device 2. By these processes, even if a CPU is out of order, a laser oscillator is not able to output a abnormally large laser ray for many hours, so that the laser oscillator is protected safely enough.
