Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain polymer particles having a high mol.wt. at a high polymn. rate by subjecting a radical-polymerizable monomer contg. carbon black and an electrostatic charge controller in a dispersed state to suspension polymn. with an azobis polymn. initiator. CONSTITUTION:Carbon black is finely and uniformly dispersed in a radical- polymerizable monomer in the presence of a peroxide polymn. initiator and then an electrostatic charge controller is finely and uniformly dispersed in the presence of a dispersant. An azobis polymn. initiator is further added and an oil phase contg. the monomer is suspended in water and subjected to suspension polymn. to obtain a toner. Since the polymerizable monomer contg. the carbon black and the electrostatic charge controller in a finely, uniformly and stably dispersed state is subjected to suspension polymn. with the azobis polymn. initiator, the monomer is polymerized independently of the polymn. inhibiting action of the carbon black.
