Abstract

PURPOSE:To determine automatically the heating condition of a substance to be heated by a method wherein an ultrasonic oscillator is attached to the side wall surface of a heating chamber so as to face downward while a time from the transmission of an ultrasonic wave to the reception of the same by the ultrasonic oscillator through reflection on the substance to be heated or the wall surface of the heating chamber is measured to recognize the configuration of the substance to be heated. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic oscillator 17 is attached to the side wall surface of a heating chamber 3 so as to face downward by 5 deg.-15 deg. with respect to a horizontal surface and oscillates ultrasonic pulses against a food 6 while functions as an element, receiving an ultrasonic wave, reflected from the food 6 or the wall surface of the heating chamber. The reflected wave is amplified by an ultrasonic transmission and reception control unit 16 while a control signal is sent to a CPU 14 by a comparison with a proper threshold value. The CPU 14 counts a time from the transmission of the ultrasonic wave to the reception of the reflected wave and recognizes the configuration of the food 6 accurately based on data. The CPU 14 classifies the food 6 and selects the optimum cooking sequence for the food 6 by the result of the recognition and information from other sensors while the output of a magnetron 1 is controlled by a magnetron driving control unit 13.
