Abstract
PURPOSE: To automatically track a moving object with high precision with a relatively simple system structure by providing sets of two ultrasonic detectors, detecting the reception arrival time differences of ultrasonic waves between the detectors, calculating the distances between the ultrasonic detectors and the moving object based on time difference signals, and determining the position of the moving object. CONSTITUTION: Ultrasonic waves are generated accurately at constant intervals by the clock oscillator 11 of an ultrasonic oscillator 4 held by a moving object 3, the ultrasonic waves are detected by multiple ultrasonic detectors 6-8, and the arrival time differences of ultrasonic reception signals of sets of two detectors 6-8 are detected by time difference detectors 14-16. Time difference signals are fed to an arithmetic unit including a computer. The distances between the ultrasonic detectors 6-8 obtaining the arrival time differences are known when they are measured at the time of installation, the positional relations between the moving object 3 and multiple ultrasonic detectors 6-8 are calculated by the arithmetic unit, and the position of the moving object 3 is determined. The position signal is fed to the motor control device 9 of a spotlight, and the moving object 3 is automatically tracked.
