Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve maneuverability by providing throttle operating direction indicating portions at a position which can be seen by an operator when a control lever is operated for forward maneuvering and operated fro backward maneuvering. CONSTITUTION:In an outboard motor 10, a control lever 20 is set to a forward maneuvering position when a propulsion unit 15 is set at a forward turning position, and at this position, turning operation and throttle operation by a throttle operation portion 22 are conducted. When the control lever is set to a backward turning position, the control lever 20 is turned in 180-degree arc to be set to the backward maneuvering position, and similarly operation is conducted. The control lever 20 has a throttle operating direction indicating portion 27 at a position which can be seen by an operator in the forward maneuvering state and a throttle operating direction indicating portion 28 at a position which can be seen in the backward maneuvering position. Thus, even if the control lever is set to a forward or backward maneuvering position, the operator can easily confirm the throttle operating direction so as to improve maneuverability.
