Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable manual switching operation quickly without error, by performing the change-over of automatic mode and manual mode with operating lever, and the change-over to left or right in case of the automatic mode. CONSTITUTION:The change-over device 7 is provided with the operating lever 9 which is switched to 3 positions. When the operating lever 9 is at the neutral position, the output system of the steering motor 8 is detached from the steering mechanism 2 to be the manual control mode by the handle 6. When the operating lever 9 is switched to right or left from the neutral position and at automatic right or left position, the output system of the steering motor 8 is linked to the steering mechanism 2 to allow the automatic steering, and the switching signal (a) in response to the switching direction of the lever 9 is fed to the automatic control circuit 5. The circuit 5 selects either one of the left and right photosensors 4R, 4L in response to the switching signal (a), and the extent of correction of wheel angle is operated from the detection signal (b) or (c) and the wheel angle signal (d) of the potentiometer 3, the correction signal (e) controls the steering motor 8 to steer the steering wheel 1 to left or right.
