Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve productivity and characteristics by coating magnetic layers on both faces of a biaxially oriented polyester film consisting of specific polyester and film forming recipe. CONSTITUTION:The biaxially oriented polyester film which has 0.008mum<=Ra<=0.025mum film surface roughness Ra, <=10 pieces/cm<2> coarse projections having >=0.081mum height and the average crystal grain size X100 of the film satisfying simultaneously the range of 58(Angstrom )<=average crystal grain size X100<=75(Angstrom ) is formed. The magnetic layers are coated on both faces thereof. The surface characteristics such as flatness, easy slipperiness and fewer coarse projections are, therefore, obtd. and the biaxially oriented polyester film which has the excellent adhesiveness to the magnetic layers and is well balanced is obtd. The productivity and characteristic are thereby improved.
