PURPOSE:To inhibit a control electrode and an electrostatic recording head from coming into slide contact with each other by positioning the control electrode vertically above the electrostatic recording head at a distance and further moving it in the direction of a tangent to the top surface of the electrostatic recording head at the time of maintenance inspection. CONSTITUTION:An electrostatic recorder 40 is so constituted that the both- surface control type control electrode 5 is fixed on an arm supported by the side plate 22 of a lid body 24 and provided rotatably. Then roll paper 3 is guided by a guide bar 25, passed between the control electrode 5 and electrostatic recording head 4 for recording, and discharged by rolls 27 and 26. Then when the lid body 24 and a main body 21 are released from being fixed at the time of maintenance inspection such as the replacement of the roll paper 3, the control electrode 5 fixed on the arm moves almost vertically above the recording head 4. Further, when the lid body 24 is rotated and opened, the control electrode 5 moves in the direction of the tangent to the top surface of the recording head 4. Therefore, the control electrode and recording head are prevented from coming into slide contact with each other, so the wear loss is reduced and the durability is improved.
