Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve a higher judging accuracy, by determining the sum of the quantity of diffusively transmitted light, the quantity of diffusively reflected light as obtained when an unhulled rice is determined to be a damaged particle and quantities of arbitrary lights with two wavelengths in the quantity of diffusively reflected light to judge the rice to be a black-based colored particle when the sum thus obtained is below a specified value. CONSTITUTION:A detecting section irradiates each particle of a sample unhulled rice 8 with light to detect the quantity T of diffusively transmitted light, the quantity R of diffusively reflected light and quantities Red and Gen of arbitrary lights with two wavelengths in the quantity R of light. These detection values are stored into a RAM of a decision control section 16. The decision section 16 judges the unhulled rice to be a damaged particle when the quantity of light ratio (Red)/(Gen) is below a specified value and the quantity T of light and the quantity R of light as obtained when the sample is determined to be a damaged particle and quantities Red and Gen of lights and when the sum obtained is below a specified value, the sample is determined to be a black-based colored particle. This enables selection and separation of a black-based colored particle mixed into a decision zone of damaged particle thereby achieving a higher judging accuracy.
