Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve non-destructive measurement of a sugar value and hardness of fruit, by a method wherein reflected light from fruit as object to be inspected is received to measure reflection factors corresponding to more than two kinds of wavelengths contained in a specified near infrared ray range and quality is measured by a calculated value of a ratio of the reflection factors. CONSTITUTION:A light source 1 irradiates fruit as object 3 to be inspected with light containing near infrared ray range below 3.0mum. A light receiver 4 receives reflected light from the object 3 being inspected to be inputted into a microprocessor 9. A means 5 for calculating a ratio of reflection factors measures reflection factors corresponding to two kinds of wavelengths contained in the reflected light to calculate a ratio thereof. A decision means 6 compares the calculated value with a set value by a setting means 7 to judge the quality of fruit. This enables measurement of a sugar value of fruit in a wave range of 1.35mum-1.55mum and 1.60mum-1.80mum for calculating the reflection factor ratio and the hardness thereof in the wave range of 1.10mum-1.30mum and 1.35mum-1.55mum thereby enabling non-destructive measurement.
