Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce failures of attracting and holding chips by repeating the operation of attracting and holding chips until a signal of a detecting means is generated according to the previously memorized number of times of attracting and holding operations and the attracting position altering data.
CONSTITUTION: Right before working is advanced from a working starting position 10 and a wire electrode 3 reaches a position 12 in which it cuts a working contour 11, an automatic chip processor 15 is rotated and lowered to a predetermined position on a workpiece 1 to carry out an attracting operation, and then lifted. Then, when an attraction sensor 20 detects ON, said processor 15 is rotated to scrap the worked contour portion 11 into a chip carrier 14. On the other hand, the attraction sensor 20 detects OFF, attracting and holding operations set previously to a NC unit 90 of said processor 15 are repeated with said set number of times being set to the maximum value until the attraction sensor 20 detects ON, while the attraction position is changed according to the attraction position changing data. Thus, the failures of attracting and holding chips are reduced to prevent said processor from breakage.
