Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide an automatic centering device wherein, when the centering operation is carried out by correlatively shifting a center detecting tool and a material to be detected, the center detecting tool is rotated integrally with a main shaft, thereby to facilitate the centering operation and to improve the centering efficiency.
CONSTITUTION: A center detecting tool 11 is mounted on a main shaft 4a of a machine tool 11 in opposite to a reference part 10 formed in a material W to be detected such as a work or the like. When a center measurement is carried out by correlatively shifting the center detecting tool 11 and reference part 10 in the diametral direction, control means rotates the center detecting tool 11. Detecting means detects the contact between the center detecting tool 11 and the material W to be detected. A centering control circuit carries out the selection of direction as well as shaft for centering, and further controls the correlative movement of the main shaft 4a or the material W to be detected by the contact signal from the feed pulse and detecting means to successively carry out the centering operation.
