Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatize the inspection of a can and to quicken the inspection by deciding the quality of a can by measuring the other point of the can similarly after measuring at least one of the seaming thickness, seaming width, can height and countersink depth of the point spart from a reference point by detecting the reference point by rotating the can.
CONSTITUTION: A can 100 is rotated by interposing it by a rotary roller unit 10 and pressing roller unit 20 by mounting it on a turn table 4. The rotation of the can is stopped at the time when the seaming part of the can 100 is detected by a sensor 15. At this time the seam part stops apart at specified angle from the center line in the longitudinal direction of a mobile table 2 and decides a reference position. The can 100 is then moved to a measuring part B from a reference position deciding part A, subjected to centering by advancing a pair of centering means 30 and each unit 40W70 measures the can height, seaming width and thickness, and countersink depth. Then, the can 100 is rotated at specified angle from the reference position to measure the other point of the can similarly as said before and the quality of the can 100 is decided based on the measured data.
