Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain low power consumption and high speed through the combination of CMOS and bipolar circuits by allowing a CMOS circuit to drive a light capacitive load and allowing a bipolar/CMOS composite circuit to drive a heavy capacitive load. CONSTITUTION:The bipolar/CMOS composite buffer circuit 22 is added to the CMOS gate circuit 21. Through the constitution above, when the load capacitance CL is small as nearly as 0.1pF, a sufficiently high speed is attained generally by the circuit 21 only and the addition of the circuit 22 causes the response of load driving to be made slow instead. When the load capacitance CL becomes larger, for example, as nearly as 1pF, the response by the circuit 21 slows down because of insufficient driving capability. That is, the operating speed of the CMOS circuit and that of the bipolar/CMOS circuit are reversed themselves depending on the load capacitance. In using the composite circuit of bipolar/CMOS depending on the situation in such a way, the delay time of the entire circuit is reduced.
