Abstract

PURPOSE: To uniformize cooling and to reduce a material dispersion by detecting heat quantity removed during cooling through a temp. rise before and after using a cooling medium and changing a feeding quantity of cooling medium in an ununiformly cooled position.
CONSTITUTION: A thick steel plate 1 is loaded into a cooling apparatus while restricted by upper and lower restricting rolls 8, 8, successively conveyed downstream and cooled by a top face nozzle 2 and bottom face nozzle 3. Plural number of upper thermometers 11 and lower thermometers 12 are fitted between whole restricting rolls 8, 8 in the width direction respectively. Then, based on this obtained heat removing quantity, the setting of the lower/higher cooing medium quantity and the cooling medium quantity in the width direction are controlled. In this way, uniform cooling is performed and the material dispersion is reduced.
