Abstract

PURPOSE: To gradually cool piled hot steel strips in a short period using a cheap simple rack by a method wherein hot steel strips are piled in a simple rack consisting of support posts vertically installed on the floor or in a rack consisting of conventionally used pair of side plates and a base material.
CONSTITUTION: A material having a defect due to hydrogen by an ordinary air-cool treatment, for example, hot steel strips containing C:0.10W0.50%, Mn: 0.30W 1.50%, Cr:1.00% or less, V:0.06% or less, Ni:0.30%, etc. are piled in the above rack and gradually cooled. This piling gradual cooling time is specified to 25hr as the standard, which allows the treatment with a shorter time than a conventional gradual cooling time for dehydrogenation. This results in products having a quality nearly equal to ones obtained by the use of the conventional covered-gradual cooling.
