Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent aging owing to the heat of the casting blank material of binder-cotg. molding sand by charging the casting blank material of a high temperature into a rotary drum after knock-out and allowing the same contact silica sand containing moderate moisture under stirring thereby cooling the same.
CONSTITUTION: The molding blank material in a high temperature state having been separated away of molding sand after knock-out is moved together with the silica sand containing moderate moisture onto a vibrating conveyor 6 and is charged into a rotary drum 1 through a supply port 2. Thereby, the casting blank material is stirred together with the silica sand and is moved forward on a sloped surface 5. During this time, the heat of the casting blank material is thermally moved to the silica sand side and the moisture contained in the silica sand is evaporated, thus the cooling of the molding blank material is effectively accomplished. At this time, the heat of the casting blank material is cooled by the above-described moisture and therefore the silica sand itself is fired by the heat of the casting blank material and is prevented from aging. The thus cooled casting blank material is taken out through an exhaust port 8 and the silica sand passes through the mesh of a grid member 4, by which moderate moisture is given thereto on the way. The silica sand is then supplied onto the conveyor 6 from a recovery line 7, and is thus reused.
