Abstract
PURPOSE: To uniformly cool red-hot coke as a whole, by allowing the coke on a side having an insufficient cooling rate to fall at a reduced falling rate in a prolonged retention time, thus sufficiently cooling the coke on said side.
CONSTITUTION: On one side of cooling tower 1 opposite to exhaust passage 2 provided on the side wall at the top, baffle-like fixed adjusting plate 15 is protruded in the anti-exhaust side passage in blast pipe 17 vertically placed at the center of the bottom of the tower 1, and baffle-like movable adjusting plate 16 supported by working rod 16a is provided along the inner wall opposite to the plate 15. Red-hot coke is allowed to fall at a reduced rate and suitably cooled, by adjusting the width of the anti-exhaust side passage by means of the adjusting plates 15 and 16.
