Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the formation of a very thin film maintaining recording characteristics over a long period by using a specified photochromic compd. CONSTITUTION:An optical recording medium is produced with a photochromic compd. represented by formula I (where R is 5-30C alkyl chain). The optical recording medium is a uniform, very thin film and has the photochromism of the fulgide and the recording life can be prolonged. The fulgide is formed into the thin film by the Langmuir-Blodgett's technique and the resulting optical recording medium is strong and has high stability.
