Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the formation of a thin film by the Langmuir-Blodgett's (LB) technique by using a specified photochromic compd. CONSTITUTION:An optical recording medium is produced with a photochromic compd. represented by formula I (where R is 1-31C, preferably 13-23C hydrocarbon). In case of 1-31C hydrocarbon, starting materials for the compd. are industrially and easily available. In case of 13-23C hydrocarbon, the compd. has a good balance between hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties and an LB film is easily formed with only the compd. When the compd. is mixed with hydrocarbon, long chain carboxylic acid, long chain alcohol or long chain ester, a much superior LB film is formed and the stability of a coloring body can further be improved.
