Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent overheating due to eddy currents by using a high- temperature superconductor as a shield plate. CONSTITUTION:An end plate 2 is abutted against a stator core 4, and clamped by a bolt 5. A shield plate 1 is mounted in order to prevent the generation of eddy currents in the end plate 2 with the change of a magnetic field generated by AC currents flowing through a stator coil 3. A high-temperature superconductor is employed as the material of the shield plate 1. Accordingly, loss due to eddy currents in the end plate 2 and the shield plate 1 can be removed, thus preventing overheating due to eddy current loss.
