Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the cutting device to safely cut a member without generating heat strains by utilizing a magnetic flux concentrated through a cylinder- passage of magnetic flux made of superconducting material. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic flux is generated by supplying an alternating current to a superconducting coil 2 through a high-frequency power source 3. The magnetic flux is concentrated through a cylinder-passage of magnetic flux made of superconducting material, and applied to a steel plate (a member to be cut) 4 inserted into a clearance of the cylinder-passage 1 of magnetic flux. At this time, a line of magnetic force passes through the steel plate 4, and numerous eddy currents are generated around the line of magnetic force in the steel plate 4. By these eddy currents, a Joule's heat is generated in a position to be cut on the steel plate 4, and thus the steel plate 4 is cut by the heat without generating heat strains.
