Abstract

PURPOSE:To continue the animation display of the image of an object even at the time of freeze operation, by mounting a means for performing the animation display of the image of the object on the basis of the output signal of an image sensing means and a means for performing the stationary image display of one image in the image subjected to animation display. CONSTITUTION:The optical image of the interior of the body cavity incident to a solid-state image sensing element 14 is converted to an image signal to pick-up the image of the interior of the body cavity. The output image signal of the solid-state image sensing element 14 is supplied to the S/H circuit 36 in a control unit 30 and the output of said circuit 36 is supplied to a monitor apparatus 46 through a gamma (gamma) correcting circuit 42 and the image of the interior of the body cavity is subjected to animation display in real time. When the output of the gamma correcting circuit 42 is supplied to a frame memory 64, said memory 64 reads one image in said memory 64 to output the same and supplies said image to a monitor apparatus 72. Therefore, the monitor apparatus 72 performs animation display at a usual time and changes over said display to still image display when freeze indication is issued.
