Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the load of the operator in case of tracking a specific target in a picture image on the basis of a video signal outputted from an image pickup device by setting up a circuit to find the weighted mean for the maximum and minimum in the video signal and displaying the target by a binary signal on the basis of the output of the circuit which is defined as a threshold. CONSTITUTION:Image pickup device 1 generates video signal 2 corresponding to the quantity of light penetrated from an actual view and also synchronous signal 20 and supplies these signals to display indicator 4 and threshold setter 21. The operator specifies the specification area for the picture image of indicator 4 and transmits the specification area to window generating circuit 5. Then the tracking device adds window signal 6 generated from circuit 5 to indicator 4 and circuit 21 and also adds gate pulse 7 to error signal generating circuit 3. Then circuit 21 finds the weighted mean of the maximum and minimum of signal 2 within the specified area and the mean is added to circuit 3 as threshold 5 and signal 2 is converted into a signal which indicates binary target and added to frame driving device 11 and circuit 5, making it possible to reduce the load of the operator.
