Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the recognition of the shape of a plate-shaped work piece by one scanning, by detecting the edge part of the work piece by means of a linear image sensor. CONSTITUTION:A servo motor 1 drives a pinch roller 3, and the roller 3 and a tension roller 5 feeds a work piece W at a prescribed speed V in the direction of an arrow, while the amount of rotation of the roller 5 is detected by a rotary encoder 7. On the other hand, a Mitchell-type linear image sensor 9 is provided in the direction perpendicular to the feeding direction across the full width of the work piece, and it senses the image of the work piece W, using a fluorescent lamp 11 as a light source, detects for each element whether the opposite position of each element is an edge, and outputs a video voltage on the basis of the detection. Receiving as an input a pulse signal outputted from the encoder 7, a control board 15 gives a prescribed feed to the work piece W through a servo amplifier 21, while executing a prescribed image processing to detect an edge part on the basis of a video signal sent from the sensor 9. By making the edge part continuous, the shape of the work piece can be recognized.
