CONSTITUTION:A catalyst for polymerizing an olefin comprises a solid catalyst component (A) obtained by bringing a solid component (i) containing titanium, magnesium and halogen, a silicon compound (ii) of formula I, a titanium compound (iii) of formula II, and an organic Al compound (iv) into contact with each other and an organoaluminum compound (B). In the formula, R<1> and R<2> are each a hydrocarbon residue; X is halogen; 0<=m<=3; 0<=n<=3; 0<=m+n<=3; R<3> is a hydrocarbon residue; and 0<1<=4.
