Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain in high activity the titled polymer with high stereoregularity, by polymerization through bringing 4-methyl-penten-1 or its mixture with an ethylenic unsatureted monomer into contact with a specific catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer can be obtained by polymerization through bringing 4-methyl-pentene-1 or its mixture with an ethylenic unsaturated monomer copolymerizable therewith (e.g. alpha-olefin such as ethylene) into contact with a catalyst made up of (A) a solid catalytic component prepared by contacting (i) a solid component containing as the essential components, Ti, Mg and halogen and (ii) a silicon compound of formula CR<1> is branched chain hydrocarbon residue; R<2> is the same as R<1>; R<3> is hydrocarbon residue; n is 1-3) and (B) an organoaluminum compound of formula AlR (R<4> is hydrocarbon residue or H, but the all of the three R<4> being not H simultaneously).
