Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent bubbles from being generated during an operating state and when a conductor generates the heat by a method wherein a container is constituted to be double-walled and a superconductor is cooled by a liquefied gas which has been filled into an inner container and whose boiling point is specific. CONSTITUTION:During a usual operation a temperature of a transformer inside a tank 4 is kept near a boiling point of a liquefied gas 8 which has been filled between the tank 4 and a tank 5. Because a boiling point of a liquefied gas 7 inside the tank 4 is higher than a boiling point of the liquefied gas 8 and a temperature of a conductor as a heat-generating part is lower than this, the liquefied gas 7 is not boiled and no bubble is generated. If a short-circuit current exceeding a critical temperature of a superconductor flows through a winding and a conductor has a transition to a normal conduction, the Joule heat is generated; a fault current is stopped after several cycles; if a temperature rise of the winding is kept within the boiling points of the liquefied gas 7 and the liquefied gas 8, no air bubble is generated from a part where the liquefied gas 7 comes into contact with the conductor of the winding even when a system is broken down due to a short-circuit.
