PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration in properties of an optical recording layer so that the generation of reflected stray light is prevented and high SN is obtd. by covering the optical recording layer in an optical recording medium with an underlying layer having <=2% reflectivity or a backing layer formed with the underlying layer. CONSTITUTION:A polycarbonate resin or the like is used for a transparent substrate 1 on which track grooves 2 are formed by thermal transfer with a stamper mold. A material which has a large difference in reflectivity between the recording part and unrecording part and has the reflectivity as low as <=2% is selected for the optical recording layer 3 under the grooves; for example, a polymethine dye is coated thereon. The underlying layer 10 consisting of NNN'N'-tetraquis-(p-di-n-butylaminophenyl)-p- phenylene aluminum perchlorate, etc., is provided on a film consisting of polyethylene terephthalate, etc., as the backing layer 11. The underlying layer 10 and the recording layer 3 are superposed on each other and are adhered by a polyamide adhesive agent, etc. The recording layer 3 is not deteriorated in properties by the adjacent layers at the time of thermocompression bonding and can be securely adhered according to this constitution. The emission of the reflected stray light is simultaneously prevented and the optical recording medium having the high SN is obtd.
