Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture an Al-alloy sheet for can lid excellent in formability, brightness characteristics, and painting suitability, by subjecting an Al-alloy sheet to rolling by means of laser beam-machined rolls for rolling or to etching treatment so as to form fine ruggedness in the surface. CONSTITUTION:After applying facing and homogenizing treatment to an Al-alloy slab, hot rolling, process annealing, and cold rolling are applied to the above, and finally, the surface of the resulting sheet is subjected to finish rolling by means of rolls for rolling having laser beam-machined surfaces or to etching treatment, by which numerous rugged parts of 0.5-2,000mum diameter and 0.1-50mum depth or height are formed on the surface of the Al-alloy sheet at 1-5,000mum average central spacing. Subsequently, minute recessed parts of <=1mum inside diameter are further formed in the above-mentioned rugged surface by means of chemical or electrolytic treatment. By this method, the Al-alloy sheet for can lid excellent in formability, brightness characteristics, and painting suitability can be obtained.
