Abstract

PURPOSE:To develop a Ti-base alloy excellent in corrosion resistance and workability, by adding specific amounts of Ru and/or Pd and Co and/or V to Ti minimal in respective contents of O and Fe as impurities and then subjecting the resulting alloy to heat treatment at a specific temp. CONSTITUTION:Ru and/or Pd (0.005-2.0wt.%, in total) and 0.05-2.0wt.%, in total, of <1.7wt.% Co and/or <1.0% V are added and incorporated into Ti, and the contents of O and Fe as impurities are controlled to <0.15wt.% and <0.3wt.%, respectively. The resulting Ti alloy is heat-treated at 550-750 deg.C, by which corrosion resistance can be improved to a greater extent without deteriorating workability owing to the synergistic effect of Ru, Pd, Co, and V.
