Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a phase-separated bus bar and cable in small size, light in weight, admissible for large current, and capable of suppressing the space at the bend, by using a high temp. superconductive material to phase-separated bus bar and cable, and using liquid nitrogen as coolant. CONSTITUTION:Tubings made of superconductive material are used for conductor 1 and a shell 2, and liquid nitrogen 7 supplied from a liquid nitrogen refrigerator 6 is supplied to the conductor 1 via a lead-in/out part 3 consisting of a hollow support insulator. After passing a certain length of conductor 1, the liquid nitrogen 7 is led to the gap 8 between the conductor 1 and shell 2 and passes through a liquid nitrogen lead-in pipe 11 to then return again to the liquid nitrogen refrigerator 6. Other support insulators 4 besides the hollow support insulator lead-in/out part 3 for passage of liquid nitrogen 7 is to support the conductor 1. The conductor 1 and shell 2 are made of material presenting superconductivity at a temp. below the liquid nitrogen temp. -196 deg.C, and a heat insulating material 10 is used to the periphery of the shell 2 to enhance the cooling effect of liquid nitrogen 7.
