Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase strength by providing a cut-out part on a bearing installed on a cross head and fixing a cross-head pin to a joining rod at the cut-out part. CONSTITUTION:A joining rod 3 which is installed in an alignment with a crankshaft 2 is linked to a cross head 4, reciprocating a piston rod 5. A cut-out part 9 is formed on a bearing 7 installed on the cross head 4 and a cross-head pin 6 is fixed to the joining rod 3 in the position of the cut-out part 9 by means of bolts 10. The front face of the cross-head pin 6, i.e., the face on the opposite side of the joining rod 3 is brought into contact over the whole length with the bearing 7 serving as the transmitting face of load. Hence, the area of the bearing is made large enabling a large load of piston rod to be supported.
