Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the heat generation properties of heating resistors from depending on a pattern accuracy in the forming of the resistors, by a method wherein the adjacent heating resistors are partially continuously formed. CONSTITUTION:Heating resistors 2 are formed between a common electrode 1 and discrete electrodes 3-1, 3-2,.... The resistors 2 having cut parts 6, 7 on both sides are so formed that the adjacent heating resistors are continuously formed at a center part 5 thereof. In such a thermal print head, a specific one is selected from among the discrete electrodes 3-1, 3-2,... and electrically energized. For example, a voltage is applied between the discrete electrode 3-2 and the common electrode 1 and an electric current (i) is passed thereto. The electric current (i) flows mainly through the center part of the resistor between the common electrode 1 and the discrete electrode 3-2. In this case, because the resistor parts are not completely independent from each other, the value of resistance thereof is substantially determined by the sheet resistance of the heating resistor part without largely depending on the dimensional accuracy of the cut parts 6, 7 on both sides.
