Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the amplification operation stable over a wide level range against the change in an optical input signal level by giving an output of an amplifier receiving an output of a light receiving element as an input signal to the input of amplifier via a nonlinear feedback circuit. CONSTITUTION:A common emitter transistor (TR) 121 constitutes the input of the amplifier, to which an output of the light receiving element 11 is fed as an input signal and an output voltage of a TR 122 is fed to the input via a nonlinear feedback circuit 13. As the light receiving level is increased, the signal current fed from the element 11 to the TR 121 is increased and then a potential across the resistor 131 of the circuit 131 is increased. Thus, a current is branched to a diode 132 through the conduction of the diode 132, and the state is the same effect as increasing the feedback quantity, the current-voltage conversion gain is reduced and even when the signal current is large, the amplification is made stable without saturating the TRs. Thus, the amplification stable for a wide range of level is attained against the change in the optical input signal level.
