Abstract

PURPOSE:To transmit/receive an optical signal at a high SN ratio and to rapidly and easily transmit a signal to a mobile substance by selectively amplifying an optical signal obtained from a light source. CONSTITUTION:An optical signal radiated from a light source 1 in accordance with a transmission circuit 4 is made incident upon a photodetector 3 through an optical amplifier 2 and its output is processed by a receiving circuit 5. The optical amplifier 2 is obtained by sandwiching a phosphor 7 between transparent substances 6 or dissolving the phosphor 7 in the transparent substance 6 and a photodetector 3 is fitted to its end face. When synthesized light of light from the light source 1 and background light is made incident upon the amplifier 2, light other than the absorbing wavelength area of the phosphor 7 is not transmitted to the photodetector 3, light in the absorbing wavelength area is absorbed into the phosphor 7 and fluorescence corresponding to the absorbed light is radiated and made incident upon the photodetector 3.
