Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve the miniaturization of pickup head part by using optical fibers for transmission and reception of signal light. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor laser 2 as a light source, photo detectors 8, 12, a feedback circuit 14 for output stabilization, a driving circuit 13 are disposed in positions away from a disc 1. A signal light transmitting-receiving optical fiber 61, optical fiber 66 are disposed between the semiconductor laser 2, photo detectors 8, 12 and disc 1 while a directional coupler 11 is being constituted. This causes the signal light tramsmitting-receiving optical fiber 61 to act as a pickup heat part, the pickup head part to be made smaller in size and lighter in weight, the read light beam from the semiconductor laser 2 and the reflected light beam having been modulated by the disc 1 to be transmitted through the optical fiber 61 and part thereof to be transmitted to the photo detectors 8, 12 through the optical fiber 66.
