Abstract

PURPOSE:To know the state of a liquid level accurately by detecting the position of the liquid level by a plurality of liquid level detecting means. CONSTITUTION:When a fuel is supplied, the liquid level of the fuel just after its supply is detected by liquid level detecting means A1, A2... On the basis of the liquid level detection values thus obtained, a retrieval-computation means F retrieves a storage in a storage means E and calculates from a retrieved value a reference fuel value at the time of supply of the fuel. After this reference fuel value is calculated, a consumed fuel value detected by a consumption quantity detecting means B is subtracted from said reference fuel value by a subtraction means D, and a residual fuel quantity, which is the result of subtraction, is indicated by an indication means G. Since the position of a liquid level is detected by the liquid level detecting means A1, A2... in a plurality in this way, the state of the liquid level is known accurately. In addition, the data stored in the storage means E reflect accurately substantially the state of the liquid level resulting from the shape of a fuel tank, and therefore the residual fuel quantity can be indicated also with high accuracy.
