Abstract

PURPOSE:To apply constant pushing force onto a release bearing by coupling an air tank through a solenoid direction changeover valve and a check valve with the operating chamber of a pneumatic actuator communicated with the operating chamber of a control valve, and communicating the atmospheric chamber of the control valve through the electromagnetic direction changeover valve and a relief valve with the atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:When a clutch is engaged completely, operating chamber 31 of a pneumatic actuator 5 is released through a pipe 19, operating chamber 22 of a control valve 30, a path 34a, an atmospheric chamber 21, a solenoid direction changeover valve C and a relief valve 18 to the atmosphere. Consequently, residual pressure corresponding to the open-valve pressure of the relief valve 18 is applied onto the operating chamber 31 of the pneumatic actuator 5 to rotate a clutch lever through a piston 15, a rod 16, a piston 11. and rods 12, 12a so as to apply a predetermined preload onto a release bearing. Since the preload is maintained at a constant level irrespective of abrasion of clutch facing, periodic adjustment is not required.
