Abstract

PURPOSE: To strengthen the braking operation of a brake by connecting a compressed air source to third pressure chamber, communicating third pressure chamber with atmosphere at the initial braking time, and communicating the chamber with the compressed air source in response to the increase of the pressure in a pressure changing chamber.
CONSTITUTION: When a brake operating rod 10 is pushed, a pressure changing chamber 6 is communicated with third pressure chamber 9 to increase the pressure in the chamber 6 to thus lower the pressure in the chamber 9 and to open a check valve 17 to introduce the atmospheric air from the chamber 9 into the chamber 6. Thus, a power piston 3 can be moved by the pressure difference between the chamber 6 and negative pressure chamber 5 to allow the rod to move forwardly. When further braking, the pressure in the chamber 6 approaches the value near the atmospheric pressure to cause the plunger 18d of a control valve 18 to separate a valve body 18a from a valve seat 18b against the force of a compression spring 18e to thereby introduce the compressed air from the air pump 14 into the chamber 6 from the chamber 9. Thus, the pressure difference between the negative pressure from the chamber 5 and the positive pressure from the pump 14 is operated to the power piston 3 to strengthen the braking operation.
