Abstract

PURPOSE: To fasten side parts of a pattern coil in a short time and conduct also the correction of a row of strands at the same time by heating and welding the self-welding layer of each strand by an ultrasonic welder so as to fasten said strands to each other.
CONSTITUTION: Strands 11, where self-welding magnet wires are shaped into flat wires, are wound on a spool (not shown) to form a pattern coil 12 of an almost equal leg trapezoidal shape. Side parts 12a of said pattern coil 12 are inserted into a holder 13 (having a calibrating function) and pressure is applied from three directions to prevent said strands 11 from getting out of shape. Then, the horn 14 of an ultrasonic welder (not shown) is pressed into the remaining one direction to apply ultrasonic waves and transmit them to the pattern coil 12. Thus, the self-welding layer 17 of each strand generates heat so as to be welded. Said process is practiced from the longitudinal and lateral directions of side parts 12a of the pattern coil 12 to fasten said strands 11 to each other.
