Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a superconducting ceramic having high critical current and comprising a sintered body, the whole body of the sintered body being transformable to a rhombic structure comprising a superconducting phase, by sintering a specified powdery raw material under pressure, then cooling obtd. sintered product slowly. CONSTITUTION:A powder mixture consisting of BaCO3, Y2O3, and CuO is precalcined at 700-900 deg.C for <=1hr in the atmospheric air, then, the product is pulverized to obtain a powdery raw material having <=1mum particle size and YBa2Cu3O7-x compsn. (x is 0-0.25) consisting of a mixture of a rhombic structure and a tetragonal structure. The powder raw material is then sintered under pressure at 600-1050 deg.C, 300-2000kg/cm<2> in >=20vol% O2 atmosphere of 1-10atm., and then cooled slowly at <=2 deg.C/min cooling rate.
