Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a superconducting ceramic having high critical current in which the whole body of the sintered body can cause modification to a rhombic structure consisting of a superconducting phase by sintering a specified powdery raw material under pressure in O2 atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A powdery raw material constituted of phase stable at low temp. having a YBa2Cu3O7-x compsn. (wherein x is 0-0.25) of <=3mum particle size is obtd. by precalcining a powdery raw material mixture obtd. by mixing BaCO3, Y2O3, and CuO, at 850-1000 deg.C and >= atmosphere pressure under stirring in 100vol.% O2 atmosphere, then pulverizing the precalcined product. Thereafter, obtd. raw material powder is sintered under pressure at 550-600 deg.C, 200-2000kg/cm<2> pressure in an atmosphere contg. >=20vol.% O2.
