Abstract

PURPOSE:To track an object body which is adapted to an environment change and moves at a high speed in a wide-range area by an image pickup device and to generate target azimuth data by providing an image pickup device, a driving base, an image processor, an azimuth arithmetic unit, etc. CONSTITUTION:A video signal 3 obtained from a TV camera 1 is inputted to an image processor 5 provided at a trailing stage and geometric gravity center data 9 on the moving body in a TV image is calculated. This data is outputted to the azimuth arithmetic unit 6 provided at a trailing stage. This unit 6 calculates a target azimuth arithmetic value which is the azimuth of the object body from the data 9 and azimuth angle data indicating the image pickup azimuth of the camera 1 and outputs it to a driving base controller 7. The controller 7 controls the camera driving base 2 which supports the camera 1 and outputs a driving base control signals 4 to the driving base 2 so that the data 9 is positioned in the center of the image. Consequently, the moving body which moves at a high speed in a wide-range area where an environmental change is made to generate position data.
