CONSTITUTION:A controller 23 of a portable radio telephone set 2 calculates a time necessary to full-charge a battery 21 from a waiting time and a speech time according to a predetermined program. An input power supply 3 is quickly charged by a quick charging constant-current circuit 12, but when a charging voltage starts dropping, a - V(dropping voltage) detector 14 is operated to stop the circuit 12, and a trickle charging constant-current circuit 13 is operated. A time calculated by the controller 23 is applied through a decoder 17 to a time setting variable timer 16. When the quick charging is continued even if this time is elapsed, it is switched to a trickle charging through a charging current controller 15.
