Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the performance of an electric discharge machine by providing a device controlling the action of the electric discharge machine, sensor device measuring a workpiece and a position detecting means detecting whether or not the sensor device is placed in a predetermined position and giving the detection results to a control unit. CONSTITUTION:An electric discharge machine mounts a transmitting head 31 to a touch probe 1 by a block 32 and a screw thread 33 and a receiving head 34 to a clamp device 9 in the side of a main spindle 8. While the receiving head 34 is connected to an NC unit through a cable 35. The measured information from the touch probe 1 is given to the NC unit as the control information. While the information of the touch probe 1 for whether or not it is placed in a regular measuring position is directly accepted from the detection results of a position detecting device 30. Discriminating a condition of the touch probe 1, the electric discharge machine controls its action. By the constitution thus described in the above, the performance of the machine can be improved by substantially reducing a processing load of the control unit.
