Abstract

PURPOSE:To control the synthesis of dioxine by burning coarse high calorie refuse on the top surface of general refuse, and causing fine sized refuse to be subjected to suspension firing to form a high temperature burning zone inside a secondary burning chamber. CONSTITUTION:General refuse A1 having a relatively low calorie is burnt on a stoker S, and ash C is discharged out of the furnace by an ash extruder 8. High calorie refuse A2 containing plastic material etc., is fed to a secondary burning chamber 20 by a refuse feeder F, and fine sized refuse is subjected to suspension firing and coarse refuse is dropped on top of the general refuse on the stoker where it is burnt. The suspended high calorie refuse A2 is burnt as it is agitated by secondary air, and forms a high temperature burning zone G at about 1,000-1,100 deg.C in the upper part of the secondary burning chamber 20. Because of the presence of said high temperature burning zone G, the synthesis of dioxine due to the burning of refuse can effectively be prevented.
