Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 （発明の分野） 本発明は人体に密接して、例えばギブス或いは
副木の下で使用する為の臭吸収用包帯に関し、更
に詳しくは本発明は、汗を吸い上げ且つ消散させ
そして皮膚の表面から発散する臭の原因となる成
分を吸収する、臭吸収用の複合材料に関する。
（従来技術の説明） 傷の治療中或いは他の整形外科的な施術方法と
関連してかなり長時間副木或いはギプスを身につ
けなければならない人はギプスの下に汗をかく。
典型的に、綿その他の包帯が緩衝の目的の為に
ギプスの下に巻付けられる。時間が経つと布包帯
は汗及び汗に含まれる臭の原因となる物質を吸収
する。そして患者はいやな臭を感ずる。同様の問
題は運動選手が運動中に使用する包帯に関しても
生じ得る。
活性炭を含む材料のウエブは効果的な臭吸収材
料とし得る。例としては活性炭を含む基質から成
る臭吸収靴中底がある。効果を出す為に、そうし
た材料は蒸気及び液体に対して透過性でなければ
ならず且つ活性炭の表面の広い領域が吸着に利用
されねばならない。
臭吸収材料を作る為の最大限の努力が靴中底技
術に於て集中的に払われてきた。それらは例え
ば、米国特許第3852897号、4062131号、4099342
号、4137110号、4185402号及び4192086号に開示
されている。臭吸収体は種々の臨床処置に於ての
使用のためにもまた案内された。
例えば、米国特許第3868955号はアルデヒド多
糖類を含むことによつて不快な臭を減少させる。
体液吸収用の包帯を開示している。米国特許第
4128686号は、尿臭を減少する為の抗菌物質剤を
有し得る、疎水性及び親水性層より成る失禁の管
理の為の薄板状組立体を開示している。こうした
従来技術は何れもギプスその他の下側で使用する
為或いは運動中に使用するサポータの為の、柔軟
で快適な、臭吸収用材料を提供する為の特定の問
題には係つていない。
（発明の目的） 従つて、本発明の目的は、体から汗を吸上げ、
臭を吸収し且つ皮膚に直接接触した状態で快適で
ある、柔軟な複合材料を提供することにある。
（発明の概要） 一つの様相に於て、本発明は体の一部を包被す
るのに使用する為の、臭吸収ウエブより成立つて
いる。ウエブは薄肉で可撓性のシートより成り、
これが多数の臭吸収用の活性炭粒子を互いに結合
する為の基質として働く。疎水性繊維状材料が体
表面と接触して位置づけられるべく、シートの第
１表面に取付けられる。好ましくは、親水性繊維
状材料が反対側の表面に取付けられる。
好ましい実施例に於て基質は、分散された活性
炭粒子を含有する、ラテツクス結合剤中にセルロ
ース系繊維を含むもの、又はエラストマ系連続気
泡フオーム、例えばポリウレタンである。疎水性
繊維状材料は、織つた或は不織の疎水性繊維材料
を基質の表面に貼付けたものであり得るが、最も
好ましくは、その大部分が基質に貫入された密集
状態の疎水性繊維の不織層より成立つ。このよう
な構造は、基質表面に載置した短い繊維を刺込み
処理し、実質的に連続した柔軟な疎水性層を形成
する事によつて作成し得る。基質の、疎水性繊維
を貼付したとは反対側の表面に随意的な親水性繊
維材料を同様に貼付し得るが、前記随意的な親水
性繊維材料は好ましくは不織の、刺込み処理され
た、密集状態の親水性繊維の層である。
本発明の好ましい実施例に於ては、疎水性繊維
は体と接触し、皮膚から汗及び汗に含まれる臭の
原因物質を吸上げ、臭吸収基質に導通しそこで臭
の原因物質が活性炭に吸着される。皮膚とは反対
側の基質の表面上に親水性層が存在することでギ
プス或いは副木と皮膚の表面との間に追加的な緩
衝作用がもたらされる。疎水性層はまた汗の蒸発
をも促進する。
別の様相に於て、本発明はギプス、副木或いは
人体と接触するよう作製された他の用品の下部の
臭を減少する為の処理を含み、これは本発明の臭
吸収用複合材料をギプス等の装着に先立ち好まし
くは巻付けによつて疎水性層を皮膚に接触させて
被覆すべき範囲に被着することから成る。
（実施例の説明） 図面を参照されたい。本発明の一例としての具
体例が幾つかの段階に於て第１図に例示されてい
る。第１段階では、一様に分散された多数の活性
炭を含む可撓性の発泡プラスチツクシート即ち基
質１０が、短い疎水性繊維１２の層によつて表面
８を覆われる。
本発明のこの実施例に使用するのに好適な、分
散された活性炭粒子を含む発泡材料は例えば、リ
ユーコツトケミカル社、スコツトフオームカンパ
ニー社或いはアドバンストアブソーバ社から市販
され入手可能である。基質１０は当業者に周知の
方法によつて作製されたエラストマ系の連続気泡
フオーム、好ましくはポリウレタンで構成し得
る。他の発泡材及び他の可撓性の、活性炭充填シ
ート材料もまた使用可能である。全てのそうした
発泡重合体基質は、好ましい連続気泡を成し、か
くして汗その他の移動は促進されまた活性炭粒子
の露出表面は最適化とされる。しかしながら、以
下に開示される如き本発明の或る実施例の製造過
程における刺込み処理が汗の移動を大幅に促進す
る勿論、独立気泡フオームも使用出来る。
疎水性繊維はポリプロピレン、ポリエステル、
或いは他の材料で構成し得る。繊維の長さは製造
するべき臭吸収用包帯の全肉厚に依存する。繊維
は好ましくは細いものとされ例えば直径12乃至22
ミクロンであるが、より小径の繊維を使用する程
一層軟質な表面が提供されやすい。図面では繊維
１２は無秩序に配向されたものとして示されてい
るが、繊維は好ましくは、より一様な不織製品と
するよう繊維を平行或いは直交方向に揃えるカー
ジング機を通される。
繊維は、２乃至10オンス／yd2、好ましくは約
６オンス／yd2のオーダにおる密度において使用
される。その様な疎水性繊維は繊維の軸に沿つて
体からの汗を吸上げる能力のあることが知られて
いる。
不織の疎水性繊維１２及び基質１０は、刺込み
処理を経て一体化される。ここでは繊維は基質１
０内に挿込まれて相互に固定され、実質的に連続
した密集繊維の不織層より成る、軟質の上層１４
（第１Ｂ図参照）を形成する。刺込み処理は臭吸
収基質１０に穴開けし水分移動用の繊維を下向き
に挿込むことにより臭吸収基質及びこれに含まれ
る活性炭粒子６を皮膚からの水分及び臭の原因物
質に接し易くする。例えば、そうした刺込み処理
は、基質１０の上面に無作為に載置した疎水性繊
維１２を、プレス機から伸延するＹ字形の“ニー
ドル”と接触させ、次いでプレス機を作動し前記
ニードルを疎水性繊維の一部（通常は中間部分）
と接触させそしてそれらを基質１０の内部に“パ
ンチ”或は刺込むことによつて成される。これに
よつて前記疎水性繊維は前記中央部分が基質１０
内部に係止され、そして残余の自由端が基質１０
の表面上に突出される状態となる。従つて、本発
明は、好ましい刺込み形態に於ては、活性炭粒子
を露出させる目的の為の開口を別に設ける必要が
無い。
前述に於て説明した型式の、活性炭を充填した
可撓性の発泡プラスチツク基質は、代表的には幾
分弾性であり、体表面への巻付けその他の用途に
於て僅かに伸長し得る。以下に説明する如く、刺
込み処理した層の替りに織つた疎水性マツトを使
用出来る。しかしながら、弾性基質で構成される
実施例に於ては、基質１０の弾性をより損ねない
点に於て不織繊維が好ましい。
第１Ｂ図に示される複合材料はそのままで、層
１４を体表面と接触させて使用し得るが、好まし
くは更に第１Ｃ図及び１Ｄ図に示される様に、基
質１０の表面１８に刺込みされた親水性層を組込
むよう処理される。かくして、親水性繊維、例え
ばレーヨン或いは綿繊維２０は、希望に応じて基
質１０の表面８とは反対の表面１８上に不揃いに
載置され、即ち配向され、そして２４で示される
親水性の、不織の実質的に連続した層を提供する
べく前述の如く刺込み処理される。親水性層の存
在によつて、本発明の複合材料を使用するべきギ
プス或いは副木の下の緩衝作用が増大され、また
汗の蒸発が促進される。従つて、使用に当り、皮
膚表面に於て発生した汗は、疎水性繊維１２の層
１４によつて基質１０内に吸上げられ、そこで活
性炭粒子６がその臭の原因物質を吸着する。汗の
水分は親水性繊維２０によつて吸収されそして基
質１０を通して、もし有ればギプスと包帯との間
の空間に運ばれる。
本発明の可撓性の、臭吸収用複合材料は任意の
シート形状に形成し得るが、好ましくは例えば幅
３から６インチ（約7.6から15センチ）の材料の
ロールとして作製される。第２図に示される如
く、その様な材料のロールは、ギプス、ブレース
或いは他の整形、補形用品又は運動中のサポータ
を装着する前に体表面に巻付けられ、そしてクリ
ツプ、テープ或いは他の通常の手段で止着され
る。通常の石膏ギプスを形成する為の複数層の石
膏含浸布ストリツプの貼合わせが、ギプスと、も
し使用されたなら親水性層との間を接合し得る。
これが、ギプス自体と一体の、柔軟な、内側の、
臭吸収層を提供する。
以上実施例に基き説明したが本発明の内で多く
の変形を成し得る事を銘記されたい。

第１Ａ図から第１Ｄ図は本発明の複合材料の第
１実施例の製造段階を示す例示図。第２図は本発
明の臭吸収用複合材料の使用を例示する概略図。 図中主な部分の名称は以下の通り。６：活性炭
粒子、１０：基質、１２：疎水性繊維、２０：親
水性繊維。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 １ 体の一部分を包被するのに使用する為の臭吸
    収用ウエブにして、多数の、臭吸収用の活性炭粒
    子を相互に結合する基質より成る薄肉の可撓性の
    シートと、前記シートの、体表面と接触する側の
    表面に取付けられその実質部分が基質に貫入され
    た多数の疎水性繊維状材料とによつて成る臭吸収
    用ウエブ。 ２ シートの体表面と接触する側の表面とは反対
    側の表面に取付けられた親水性繊維材料を更に備
    えている特許請求の範囲第１項記載の臭吸収用ウ
    エブ。 ３ 基質はラテツクス結合剤中にセルロース系繊
    維を含むものである特許請求の範囲第１項記載の
    臭吸収用ウエブ。 ４ 基質はエラストマ系フオームである特許請求
    の範囲第１項記載の臭吸収用ウエブ。 ５ フオームは連続気泡フオームである特許請求
    の範囲第１項記載の臭吸収用ウエブ。 ６ フオームはポリウレタンフオームである特許
    請求の範囲第４項記載の臭吸収用ウエブ。 ７ 疎水性繊維材料は密集状態の疎水製繊維の不
    織層を含んでいる特許請求の範囲第３項記載の臭
    吸収用ウエブ。 ８ 疎水性繊維材料は密集状態の疎水製繊維の不
    織層を含んでいる特許請求の範囲第４項記載の臭
    吸収用ウエブ。 ９ 疎水性繊維材料はその実質的な一部が基質に
    貫入した疎水性の不織層を含んでいる特許請求の
    範囲第２項記載の臭吸収用ウエブ。
