Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明はプラスチツク製中空状構造体に溶接部
材を摩擦熱により溶着接合する、プラスチツク製
中空状構造体の溶接方法に関する。
一般に、摩擦熱による溶接方法は溶接部材と被
溶接部材とを圧接した状態で、相対的に運動さ
せ、その圧接した接合面に摩擦熱を生じせしめて
溶融接合することから、溶接部材と被溶接部材は
圧接に耐えうる強度を必要とする。ところが、被
溶接部材がプラスチツク製中空状構造体である場
合、圧接に耐えうる強度がなく、圧接によつてプ
ラスチツク製中空状構造体が変形し、接合面に溶
接される程の摩擦熱を発生させることが頻る困難
であり、接合強度に劣り、また接合箇所の寸法精
度に劣ることからプラスチツク製中空状構造体に
溶接部材を良好に摩擦溶接することは困難であつ
た。
本発明はプラスチツク製中空状構造体の外表面
に溶接部材を摺動させて摩擦熱を発生させて溶接
する際に、プラスチツク製中空状構造体の内部に
圧力流体を圧入し内部を加圧した状態で溶接部材
を摺動することにより従来の欠点を解消するもの
であり、圧接に耐えうる強度がないプラスチツク
製中空状構造体であつても良好な摩擦溶接する方
法を提供するものである。
以下本発明を図面にもとづき説明するに、1は
回転運動による摩擦溶接装置で、回転軸2は軸受
3によつて昇降自在に支承され、回転軸2の下端
には溶接部材であるプラスチツク製のブラケツト
4を挾持するクランプ5を、上端には圧接用のエ
アシリンダー6が、また回転軸2の軸上には電磁
ブレーキ7を備えたプーリー8が固定してあり、
回転軸1は回転制御される。そして9はモータ、
10はクラツチであり、11は被接合部材である
プラスチツク製のタンク12を保持する保持具で
ある。13は加圧装置で、プラスチツク製タンク
12の注入孔からなる開口12aに接続するノズ
ル14は、加圧源であるコンプレツサー15とパ
イプ16にて連通している。また17はパイプの
適宜箇所に配設した電磁弁である。
つぎに溶接方法を説明するに、まず被接合部材
であるプラスチツク製タンク12を保持具11に
固定し、接合部材であるプラスチツク製ブラケツ
ト4を回転軸2のクランプ5に挾持する。ついで
加圧装置のノズル14をタンク12の開口12a
に接続し、加圧流体をタンク内に圧入し、タンク
12の内部を加圧した状態とする。そして回転軸
2を回転し、エアシリンダー6により回転軸2を
下降させ、タンク12とブラケツト4との接合面
を圧接しつつブラケツト4を回転させる。このと
きタンク12は内部が加圧されているので、接合
面は良好な圧接状態が保たれ、接合面には摩擦熱
が発生しそして溶融が生じたならば回転を停止
し、接合面が固化するまで静止状態を保つ、そし
て接合面の固化終了後、タンク12内の加圧状態
及びブラケツト4の挾持を解除し、回転軸2を上
昇させることによつて溶接は完了し、タンク12
にブラケツト4が溶接されたプラスチツク製中空
状構造体が得られる。
本発明にて適用される摩擦溶接は、接合面を圧
接した状態で相対的に運動させるものであり、例
えば実施例に示した回転運動の他に回転往復運動
や直線往復運動にて摩擦熱を発生させるものであ
る。また、被溶接部材のプラスチツク製中空状構
造体とはポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン等の熱可
塑性プラスチツクを吹込成形、回転成形、真空成
形、射出成形や圧縮成形等にて製造した中空状構
造体の総称で、例えばタンク、コンテナー、ボト
ルやハウジング部材である。一方溶接部材はブラ
ケツトや注出パイプ等所望形状のものが使用され
る。尚、溶接部材は被溶接部材と同質のプラスチ
ツク材料で構成するのが溶接強度の面で望まし
い。また、プラスチツク製中空状構造体の内部に
圧力流体を圧入する際、プラスチツク製中空状構
造体は密閉状で行うのが望ましいが、一部解放さ
れた状態であつても、プラスチツク製中空状構造
体の内部に加圧状態が保たれれば本発明は達成さ
れる。
本発明に係るプラスチツク製中空状構造体の溶
接方法は、以上のように溶接部材をプラスチツク
製中空状構造体の外表面に接触させて溶着するの
で、作業が容易で装置も極めて簡単なものが使用
できるとともに、プラスチツク製中空状構造体の
内部に直接圧力流体を圧入したので、プラスチツ
ク製中空状構造体の内部の各面に均等に圧力が加
わり偏つた変形を防止することができる。

第1図は本発明に係る溶接方法を例示する溶接
装置の略図であり、第2図は本発明に係る溶接方
法にてブラケツトを溶接したタンクの斜視図であ
る。 1…摩擦溶接装置、4…ブラケツト、12…プ
ラスチツク製タンク、13…加圧装置。

  1. 1 ポリエチレン・ポリプロピレン等の熱可塑性
    プラスチツクからなるプラスチツク製中空状構造
    体の外表面にブラケツトや注出パイプ等の溶接部
    材を接触させ、ついで該溶接部材を摺動させて摩
    擦熱を発生させてプラスチツク製中空状構造体と
    溶接部材とを摩擦溶接するプラスチツク製中空状
    構造体の溶接方法において、該プラスチツク製中
    空状構造体の内部に圧力流体を圧入し内部を加圧
    した状態で該溶接部材を摺動させることを特徴と
    するプラスチツク製中空状構造体の溶接方法。
