Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure the read/write by arranging a thin film head and an integrated circuit chip including a recording and reproducing circuit adjacently onto a slider block. CONSTITUTION:A recording and reproducing circuit is formed as an integrated circuit chip 20 and it is fitted onto a slider block 12 close to the thin film head. A read pad 21 for input/output of power supply, ground, a write signal and a read signal or the like and a lead 22 led out of the pad 21 are formed on the slider block 12 via an insulation layer such as glass or the like. The lead pad 21 and the lead 22 are formed by the photolithography method together with the coil 10 and the direct bonding between the integrated circuit chip 22 and the tip of the lead 22 is applied by using bump mount. An overcoat layer for protection is formed as a whole. Thus, the effect of noise between the thin film head and the recording and reproducing circuit is drastically reduce and the read/write is ensured.

合されたことを特徴としている。

近接して取付けられている点が従来の装置と大きく異な
る。スライダブロック12上にはガラス等の絶縁層を介
して電源、接地、ライト信号及びリード信号等を入出力
するためのリードパッド21およびこれから引出された
リード22が形成されている。コイル10からもリード
22が引出されている。これらのリードパッド21およ
びリード22はコイル10と同時にフォトリソクラソイ
法により形成されたものである。また、この実施例の場
合集積回路チップ20とリード22の先端部との直接接
合はバンブ実装を用いて行われる。そして全体には保護
のためのオーバコート層(図示せず)が形成される。

の接続配線を従来より大幅に短縮することができ、薄膜
ヘッドと記録再生回路との間における信号伝送に対する
ノイズの影響を大幅に低減することができる。このため
結果的にデータのリード/ライト動作を確実に行うこと
ができ、磁気ディスク装置の特性を向上させることがで
きる。
